President WTHL

The Winnipeg Table Hockey League (WTHL) is a vibrant and long-standing community that celebrates the sport of Table Hockey. Founded in 1989 after years of exhibition play dating back to 1965, the league has evolved into a unique and diverse competitive environment. It consists of players from Winnipeg and surrounding areas and prides itself on fostering the growth of Table Hockey through a variety of models and styles of play. The WTHL is notable for its use of 51 different Table Hockey models from manufacturers such as Coleco, SoHo Classic, Stiga, Super Chexx, Benej, Munro, Carleco, Aristospel, Irwin Power Play 2, NHL Ice FX, Gretzky's Overtime, Cresta, Eagle, Perma, Gotham, K & B Toys, Tudor, and Gamecraft. This variety adds an exciting dynamic to the tournaments, as players' skills on different tables can vary, giving rise to unexpected outcomes and upsets. The league's structure promotes a focus on overall performance rather than dominance in a single game. With players earning points across multiple table models, the champion is determined by the highest winning percentage at the end of the season. This approach helps level the playing field, allowing lower-ranked players a chance to compete with higher-ranked ones. As the 4th oldest league in the world, the WTHL has held its share of exciting tournaments over the years. The league's rich history and commitment to preserving the spirit of Table Hockey make it an enduring institution. Original 6 players Sal Capizzi, Tony Capizzi, Mike Capizzi, Antonio Capizzi, Brian Clement and Zachary Mesman were foundational in establishing the league and their continued participation speaks to the enduring passion within the community. The WTHL remains dedicated to the growth and development of Table Hockey by having various tournaments each season in a fun and competitive environment while at the same time it believes in giving back to their community by hosting charity events and fostering the growth of the game by educating the newest generations.
